Timeline
Day 1 : Half-Day Canyoning
The Bas Chassezac Aqua Hike is one of the most popular routes in the Cévennes, located in the lower part of the Chassezac Gorges.
To reach the starting area, you’ll walk for about 25 minutes with very little elevation gain. At the end of the descent, there’s a quick 2-minute walk back to the starting point.
This route is an incredible adventure featuring a variety of activities such as walking, swimming, jumping, sliding—and a few surprises!
Throughout the trip, you’ll be accompanied by a professional guide who will provide safety instructions and show you how to use the equipment properly.
Canyoning in the Chassezac Gorges is an experience suitable for all levels, as long as you can swim, are in good physical shape, and are over 7 years old.
Schedule: Departure at 9:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m., returning around 12:30 p.m./5:30 p.m.
Meeting Point: Directly at the Pied-de-Borne Village football stadium parking lot, 48800.
Day 2 : 8 or 14 km by Canoe-Kayak
Your day will be punctuated by small rapids and canoe slides, as well as calmer sections…
8 km, from Balazuc to Pradons (about 2 hours of paddling)
Schedule: Departures at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.
This route is suitable for beginners and families with young children.
Don’t leave the Ardèche without learning to handle a paddle—an activity that combines breathtaking scenery with refreshing swim stops. You have the flexibility to go at your child’s pace because we let you keep the canoe for a half-day or full day.
If you’d prefer the 14 km route, from Balazuc to Ruoms (about 3½ hours of paddling), departures are at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m.
This is the perfect route for spending the day with your family while getting a bit of exercise. You can even bring along a picnic.
What’s on the agenda? Spectacular scenery, a varied route taking in a listed village, natural surroundings, swimming spots, the Cirque de Gens, and a slide—all topped off with a bit of excitement on the rapids.
Take your time! We don’t schedule a set return time, but please be back by 6 p.m.
For both canoe-kayak options, your meeting point is Base Rivière et Canoës in Pradons (07120).
